Glulam is a large-scale engineered wood made of high-strength kiln-dried plies that are laminated together under pressure. Glulam not only maintains the traditional aesthetics and design strength of wood, but also has extraordinary fire resistance, insulation and dimensional stability.
The carbonized layer is formed around the core of the glulam, reducing oxygen consumption and delaying combustion, thereby maintaining structural strength for a longer period of time. The lamella has a humidity of 12%, which corresponds to an equilibrium humidity of 20°C and a relative humidity of 65%.
The contraction and expansion behavior of wooden beams is minimized, which facilitates maintenance and assembly. Studies have shown that wood beams have the same strength as concrete beams of the same volume, but wood is about five times lighter.
Glue-laminated lumber is produced under optimum humidity conditions, which minimise shrinkage and expansion and guarantee the dimensional stability of the material.
Pinus sylvestris glulam is easy to process, and its processing performance is better than that of ordinary wood, and the finished glulam after processing is more stable and durable. Pinus sylvestris has a high hardness of the wood structure, and its abrasion resistance is also very strong.

- The glulam structure is divided into two types: the plywood structure and the orthogonal glulam structure. - The length direction of the outer layer of orthogonal glulam should be arranged along the grain, and two layers of wood can be arranged along the grain as the outer layer. When required by the design, the cross-grain laminate can also be used in a two-ply plank configuration.
- Orthogonal glulam components can be connected by finger joints, and should meet the following requirements: when the components are finger-joined, the laminates of the cross-sections at both ends of the components at the finger joints should be arranged in the same way, and the grain direction of the components should be consistent accordingly; The finger joint length of the finger joint should not be less than 45mm.

However, the splicing gap should not be greater than 6mm.
- The adhesive used in cross-laminated wood should meet the requirements of strength and durability, and the type and performance requirements of the adhesive should comply with the relevant provisions of the current national standard "Technical Specifications for Glued Wood Structures" GB/T26899.
